Thought for the Day 12-21-08

“One kind word
can warm three winter months.”

~ Japanese Proverb

winter-bisonToday is the winter solstice, also called the first day of winter for those of us in the northern hemisphere.

It is also the shortest day of the year, and it’s only 3 more months till spring. This is a time of celebration for many cultures and religions. For many it is a time of renewal or rebirth, a new beginning. A time to rejoice and be thankful for all that was bestowed us. And a time to look forward a prosperous new year.

If you are interested in learning how other cultures celebrate this time of year and how the winter solstice has for centuries played a roll in these celebrations, then visit this site >>> Religious Tolerance.org

Whatever reason you have for celebrating this time of year, if you do, I sincerely wish for you a happy and peace filled celebration.
