“You don’t choose your family.
They are God’s gift to you,
as you are to them.”
~ Desmond Tutu
We don’t get much company here, in part because we live in a very remote and isolated area, and partly because I think we are so boring being the simple folks we are. However, at least once a year my sister-in-law and her family come to visit and spend a couple of days with us. We very much prefer these small gatherings as opposed to large family reunions where it is difficult to have a conversation with one person and share in life’s joys, challenges, and experiences.
Cathy and her family arrived last night and as usual they arrived with little expectations. They love and accept us for who we are and appreciate our simple life. I believe they truly appreciate the hours we will whittle away sitting on the front porch chatting and watching the water in the creek go by.
