Thought for Today
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,
wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating;
there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather.
~John Ruskin~
Here in the southeast united states we continue to suffer from a drought. This has carried over from last years unseasonably dry summer, fall, and winter. We did not see the wet spring that we are accustomed to. The creek level is, and has been lower than is was at the end of summer last year. Is this due to global warming? I really do not know.
In contrast I’m sure that those in the mid west and in other parts of the world would gladly share some of their overabundance of rainfall with us, if they could, and we would gladly accept it.
Yesterday we received a little rain, the first in a couple of weeks. It was a beautiful sight and I enjoyed spending the time getting soaked as I wondered around exploring the garden. The tomatoes, beans, melons, squash, pumpkins, corn, and the rest of the plants thoroughly enjoyed the rain, probably more than I.
How we love the rain, without it we all would die. Animals, plants, and people alike would perish without that beautiful silvery liquid we call rain.
