Frank Rich (born June 2, 1949) is an American essayist and op-ed columnist who wrote for The New York Times from 1980 until 2011. He held various positions with the Times. In 1994 he became an op-ed columnist, with his weekly essay appearing in the Sunday Week in Review section starting in April 2005. In June 2011 he left the Times and became an essayist and editor-at-large for New York Magazine.
