Quote for Today

“The foliage has been losing its freshness
through the month of August,
and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself
like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty
who has seen one season too many.”

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes

Thought for the Day

Today is September 22 2008, the first day of autumn, first day of fall, autumn equinox, autumnal equinox, fall equinox, no matter what you call it today is a special day. Today marks the changing of the seasons, it happens in the spring too, the spring equinox or the first day of spring.

The equinox, a specific moment in time not an entire day, night and day are almost equal. Equinox is latin, equi = equal, nox = night. It is said that during an equinox the sun can be observed directly over the equator. According to the Farmers Almanac the equinox occurs at 11:44 A.M eastern USA time.

The equinoxes are the only days the sun rises due east and sets due west.

I wish for you a pleasant and enjoyable First Day of Autumn.

Thought of the Day
As I continue my journey it continues to amaze me at the amounts of writings from many years ago that told of the impending doom. That man is creating the problems we are all suffering from today. Yet we continue to destroy, to try to control nature, instead of working with nature.

So what can we do to correct the errors of our grandfathers and our fathers? First we must gain a respect for nature and for mother earth. We must care for her just as she cares for us. We must learn that greed is not a natural desire, but a man made desire, created and exploited by the corporations. We must learn to share with nature and not just take what we want without ever putting back.
